McDAY, a PDE member company specializing in technical PR and marketing for life sciences and the chemical industry, recently attended PepTalk, Protein Science Week in San Diego to help launch a new chromatography column for Gore’s PharmBIO division. Gore is the same company that keeps us warm and dry w/ GoreTex(R), and their PharmBio division is a McDAY client.
Preparing Gore for the launch of their new 1 mL and 3.5mL Gore(TM) Protein Capture Device was a combination of attracting people to the lunchtime presentation on Wednesday by Gore’s Dr. Bill Barrett, plus traditional PR tactics. McDAY developed an interactive Protein Personality iPad-based quiz, which used colorful avatars “The Maximizer, The Futurist, and The Discoverer,” to identify key prospects who visited the Gore booth.
McDAY President Susan Stipa laughed when she reported “We trudged up and down the aisles, handing out invitations, personally. This worked well alongside more traditional PR – pre-show press releases, social media posting. This advance preparation made for a notable launch week!”
Nearly 100 protein chemists attended the Gore presentation, versus the show average of 20-30 attendees. Gore PharmBio recently thanked McDAY for their persistence in developing a more creative launch program, and informed McDAY that Gore had already received their first two orders – “from recognizable names in Big Pharma,” says Stipa.
